ABSTRACT

In 2009, the Vito field was discovered in more than 4,000 ft of water approximately 150 miles offshore from New Orleans, Louisiana. The project produces from reservoirs nearly 30,000 feet below sea level. This paper provides an overview of the Hull & Mooring system, executing a minimum technical scope to produce a simplistic design. This paper is part of a Vito Project series at OTC 2023, and the other papers are listed in the references. The original Vito project execution strategy was to replicate the Shell mega-project of Appomattox. As the industry and market began to change in 2015, the project faced significant financial hurdles, and the project team decided to refresh the design concept to reduce cost and simplify. The team regrouped to propose a smaller semi-submersible Floating Production System (FPS) with a simplistic mooring design. The Topsides was designed to be lifted as a single module, with a payload of less than 10,000 st to enable competitive tendering process. The redesigned FPS concept was moored with 12 taut, chain – polyester – chain mooring line system utilizing an in-line mooring tensioner, removing the traditional mechanically complicated and space demanding "on-vessel" winch systems. Vito employed a passive hull system, with all ballasting occurring over the top without hull penetrations. There were no pump rooms within the hull as equipment is accessed from top of column, removing the need for regular hull access to maintain equipment. The hull compartmentation also followed a simple approach, containing only 12 ballast tanks to reduce fabrication cost. The hull design also included simplified ring stiffening for columns which eliminated the traditional orthogonally stiffened systems. Additionally, the structure utilized an upper column frame structure to support the topsides deck and served as a bracing for supporting columns at the top for squeeze-pry loads and bracing for supporting columns during dry tow. The simplification of the stiffening system and topsides deck support design reduced interfaces between hull and topsides and also opened up options for fabrication of topsides and hull. Key challenges included developing installation methods without traditional FPS mooring chain jacks and increasing installation options by not requiring a large installation derrick barge and enabling use of common anchor handler vessels. The project experienced fabrication delays due to COVID-19, which required creative solutions transporting the FPS from Singapore to the Gulf of Mexico. ABSTRACT

This study investigates the antecedents of the intention to switch to e-grocery shopping during the COVID-19 pandemic, which is critical in recommending that e-grocery shopping service providers improve their competitiveness by responding to customer expectations. This study proposes a push–pull–mooring framework to describe the influence of dissatisfaction on the physical market, the attractiveness of e-grocery, and switching costs as factors that drive switching intentions. This study surveyed 252 Indonesians aware of the existence of an e-grocery mobile application, and applied structural equation modeling as an analytical method to explain causal relationships between variables thought to influence switching intentions to e-grocery shopping. The results showed that the attractiveness of e-grocery had a significant effect on switching intention. Likewise, switching costs ultimately drive customer intention to switch to e-grocery shopping. However, dissatisfaction is not a driving factor directly affecting switching costs and intentions. Finally, e-grocery services cannot replace the local tradition of Indonesian people who prefer to shop for groceries in physical markets. Nevertheless, these findings provide theoretical and practical contributions to retail grocery businesses that have integrated conventional and digital services as a future strategy that drives business sustainability. © 2023 by the authors.

ABSTRACT

Malikai Tension Leg Platform (TLP) being the first TLP in Malaysian waters, was installed in 2016 at a water depth of 500m. The mooring system was designed with tender-assisted drilling (TAD) features to allow for station keeping activities during drilling operations. Malikai Phase 2 is brownfield project to develop six infill wells to be drill using existing well slots available on TLP. To drive project value of replication and standardization, similar TAD vessel was used as per Phase 1 campaign. The project execution strategy emphasizes on the reuse of Phase 1 mooring component to lower the CAPEX and re-certification of the mooring component were done to maintain the integrity of the hardware. Existence of porkmarks and large part of geo-hazard on the Malikai seafloor, remain one of the main challenges to safety pre-lay polyester on the selected routes. Furthermore, due to Covid-19 pandemic the shipment of the polyester ropes was delayed. Improvement was made in the offshore installation methodology with introduction of the direct hook-up methods to eliminate the risk of polyester damaging during pre-laid, eliminate the chain twists issue on ground chain section and that also help in preserving project schedule. The development of innovative contracting and supply chain management strategies such as competitive bidding exercise and leverage on contractor expertise to drive the efficient execution. Virtual working setting is a new way of working in marine assurances due to Covid-19 travel restrictions. This paper will provide a board overview of various aspects of Malikai Phase 2 brownfield development during pandemic condition while highlighting key success factors and lesson learned for future projects.
